According to some, big is definitely better when it comes to sound speakers...or is it?

You may notice that many of the speakers that are coming out today with stereo and home surround sound systems are quite small. This is because they can offer the same sound as their larger counterparts without taking up as much room. Though this is great for those that live in small places, those that like the look of the big speakers they have used in the past may feel very disappointed. If you love large speakers, there is no reason why you should not have them for your audio needs in your home. Stand up for your rights to have the biggest god-damned speakers you can find!

Hang on a minute, do I really need these monster speakers?

Those who live in small spaces will find that the big speakers will take up too much room. They may not see how much room they were taking up until they have the smaller ones in place. Unless you grew up just recently, you have probably used the big speakers for most of your life, and you just can’t imagine getting the same sound and the same look from speakers that are no larger than a hand. They can actually sound just as good, but that doesn’t mean they are as pleasing to the senses when someone is used to large speakers. Yes, all you big speaker lovers might sadly be going extinct, as technology inevitably catches up to that 200 lb beast in the corner of your entertainment center.

If you are buying a new system, but you are presented with smaller speakers, ask if there is a way that you can get larger ones. You may be told that the system only comes with what you see, but that doesn’t mean you have to do without your big speakers. As long as you can find ones that will work well with the system you are buying, there is no reason why you can’t go out and get the ones that you like the best. This can be said for any type of audio system that you have in your home.

You can find plenty of books that will tell you exactly what you need to know about building big speakers and how to get the best sound you can out of them.
