Noise Cancelling Headsets
I know how important it is to get regular exercise, so I make sure I go for a brisk 30-minute walk every single day. I like to listen to audiobooks on my portable music player to help pass the time while I'm walking, but have encountered a major problem. Because I live in a high-traffic area, the sound from my MP3 player is often drowned out by the roar of car and truck engines, which means I tend to miss crucial bits of information. This is annoying, of course, so I finally decided to purchase a noise cancelling headset a couple weeks ago.
I actually didn't even know that there were noise cancelling headsets available to average consumers until a friend suggested them to me. I was also curious as to how this type of product worked, so I did a bit of checking before making my purchase.
It turns out that noise cancelling headsets are specially designed to reduce external sounds, thereby enhancing the listening experience. They accomplish this by producing sound waves opposite to the ones coming at the headphones from the external environment, which results in a cancellation (or at least a diminishment) of those sounds.
Once I learned what noise cancelling headsets could do, I was convinced they would be the perfect solution to the problems I was experiencing with my MP3 player. That meant the next step was for me to compare the top noise cancelling headsets on the market to find one that would provide me with great functionality at an affordable price.
When I started checking for noise cancelling headsets online, I discovered that there were basically two different ways that I could go. On the one hand, I could pick up a cheap pair of these headphones for less than $100, but would have to sacrifice some quality in order to save this money. On the other hand, I would have to bite the bullet and spend $250 or more for a top-of-the-line pair of Bose noise cancelling headsets. There didn't seem to be too many options in between.
But I didn't give up, and eventually found a couple of online retailers that offered some mid-range headphones that were more in line with my budget. I picked a set of headphones that had received excellent reviews from both tech magazine editors and consumers, and placed my order.
I've been very happy with the way my new noise cancelling headset works. It does its job very well, which means I can now enjoy every word of my audiobooks on my daily walks regardless of how much traffic is zooming past me.
